Department of Telecommunication has paid a Dividend of Rs.292 crores to general revenues during the year 1996-97. This is marginally higher than the dividend received during 1995-96.

Railways

Railways paid a Dividend of Rs.1507 crores to General Revenues of the Government during the year 1996-97. From the General Revenues, a budgetary support of Rs.1465 crores was also extended to Railways to meet a part of their capital expenditure during 1996-97 resulting in net revenue of Rs.42 crores from the Railways.

Resources transferred to States

During the year 1996-97, Resources transferred to States/UTs was Rs.76178 crores compared to Rs.65699 crores during 1995-96 registering an increase of Rs.10479 crores [16%]. The break-up of the resources transferred to States is given at Statement No.XI.
